BOJ welcomes provision of funds by central banks

TOKYO, Japan - Bank of Japan Executive Director Nobuo Inaba speaks at a hurriedly called press conference in Tokyo late on Dec. 12. He said the Bank of Japan welcomed the joint move by the U.S. Federal Reserve and other central banks to provide liquidity to short-term funding markets and that it would continue to conduct money market operations appropriately so as to maintain market stability.

Inaba to replace Mitani as BOJ executive director

TOKYO, Japan - Nobuo Inaba, director general of the Bank of Japan's Bank Examination and Surveillance Department, will be promoted to executive director, replacing outgoing Takahiro Mitani, bank officials said May 8. Finance Minister Sadakazu Tanigaki will make the appointment official on May 11.
